You can send an e-mail to a group and it will be forwarded to all the group members. One word of caution though. Spamming is highly discouraged. Purposeful or repeated spamming may result in a ban on from the IRIS server platform. If you are a victim of spamming, send a email complaint to 'iris@rvrjcce.ac.in' with [SPAM COMPLAINT] label in the subject line.

The group I want to address is not in the default groups. Can I still send a group message?

If you are the instructor or a club in-charge, you may request for mailing list group setup on the mailman software. A better, customized approach is to search the LDAP directory for all the members and form your own group inside the webmail. The groups formed in webmail are visible only to you.

Is there a usage policy for the server?

Please refer to Usage Guidelines page for relevant details.

I lost the IRIS account password. Where do I reset it?

Try not to lose password in the first place. To maintain security, password resets are done after personal confirmation with the account holder. Use any free e-mail services available on the Internet and send an e-mail to iris@rvrjcce.ac.in with [Password Reset] label in the subject line. You will get a reply with a possible meeting schedule. The administrator will reset the password after personal confirmation from you.

Someone hijacked my account. What should I do?

Report immediately to the administrator by sending an e-mail to iris@rvrjcce.ac.in with [Account Hijack] in the subject line. You account will be immediately frozen and remedial action will be taken after personal consultation with you.

Why is the account space limit only 100MB?

The space limit comes from the limited storage capacity on the IRIS server. As and when the storage capacity on the IRIS server is increased, the users will also get higher storage space.

Is there a way for me to store more than 100MB of e-mail?

You can't have more than 100MB of mails on the IRIS server. But, that doesn't limit you from having more than 100MB of mails. A simple solution to the storage limit problem is to install Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird on your computer. Using these mail clients, the mail can be downloaded from the IRIS server to the local computer. Once the mail is downloaded, the messages can be deleted from the Webmail account. One exception to using the mail clients is that you cannot send e-mail using these mail clients if the computer is not on-campus. This is a security precaution. The webmail can still be accessed and used.

I get a certificate error. Where can I download the RVRJC root certificate?

The RVRJC College servers use security certificates issued by the college. In order to successfully use these self-signed certificates, you need to install RVRJC_ca_cert.crt on your computer. Download the certificate from http://rvrjcce.ac.in/RVRJC_ca_cert.crt and install the certificate on the local computer.
