  • Provide official e-mail service:
E-mail is the most successful commercial application to have come out of networks research. An official e-mail address will always have an air of authenticity. All the members of the college will be provided with an e-mail account.


  • Provide mailing lists (egroups) facility:
Mailing lists are the original form of group communication on the Internet. They provide controlled bulk mail facility.


  • Develop platform for technical projects:
A virtual platform is mandatory to pursue collaborative technical projects. The virtual platform provides standardized methods to exchange files online, and helps rigorously monitor the progress of the project.


  • Implement help desk services:
Help desk services provide life-line to the students and staff members struggling with a computer-related issue. The help desk services are available in two modes:
  • Knowledge base
Knowledge basecompiles all the accumulated and useful technical information in the form of tutorials and FAQ.
  • Help Tickets
Help tickets provide a way get help on a specific issue from the support personal.


  • Conserve bandwidth:
Most of the daily network traffic comes from free internet e-mail services and search queries. By deploying the IRIS services, we hope to redirect the traffic to IRIS server (available on-campus) there by conserve the costly bandwidth.
